It's Dolly Parton Day! And no need for rhinestones... Cities across America are celebrating and nearly every one mentions Dolly's favorite cause: getting books into kids' hands.

Dolly started her Imagination Library in 1995. Thirty years later it has mailed more than 330 million free books to little readers around the world. That's a LOT of bedtime stories!

We can't sing like Dolly but we can celebrate the Tigris grantees and partners who share her mission:

Joyful Readers pairs young students with tutors who help them fall in love with reading.

Cosmic Writers turns kids into storytellers in library programs across the country.

BookSmiles gave away half a million free books to kids last year (not a typo, that's half a million books!).

OHAAT (One House at a Time) delivers beds to kids who need them and every one comes with books. A cozy bed and a story to read in it!

Mitzvah Circle tucks books into the care packages it sends to families in crisis because books for kids are essential.

The Boys & Girls Club got a delivery of fresh books because every kid needs a well-stocked shelf.

And Philadelphia's own Brittany Lynn brings glitter, giggles, and great stories during Drag Queen Story Time — and every kid goes home with a book. We think Dolly would love the wigs.

Some of our partners teach reading. Some make sure there's a book on the nightstand. Some make story time the best hour of the week. Working together, we all turn kids into readers. 🦋

Please join us in honor of Dolly today. Donate to one of our worthy literacy partners. Give a book to someone. Or curl up with a kid and read.

Thank you to all our literacy partners for the work you do all year long!

LAND & LABOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: The Tigris Foundation is dedicated to fostering community. We acknowledge that our offices sit on the unceded land of the Lenape people and recognize that this land was worked on by enslaved Africans. To the Lenape people, past, present, and future generations, as well as to the experience of enslaved Africans and their descendants, may this living land acknowledgement serve as a starting point for change.
